The Challenge: Late Detection & Unequal Outcomes

With Cancer Kids Strength of Smile Charitable Trust – Childhood Cancer NGO in India as many childhood cancers can be successfully treated if diagnosed early. In India, late detection, delayed referrals from peripheral health centres, and gaps in coordinated care reduce the chances of survival for many children. Differences in outcomes between high-income and low-/middle-income regions are significant, and even within India, access to timely, multidisciplinary care varies widely.

Message from the Founder:

Dr. Monica Bhagat, Founder & Chairperson, is a pediatric onco-surgeon with a commitment to equitable childhood cancer care. Dr. Bhagat started the Cancer Kids Strength of Smile Charitable Trust – Childhood Cancer NGO in India to bring children, families, and clinicians closer and to create a nationwide network focused on early detection, timely treatment, and sustained follow-up.

Our Mission

  • Awareness and education for all about childhood cancer, treatment, and life after treatment.
  • Promote early diagnosis and build collaboration between local clinicians, families, & pediatric oncology teams, ensuring that treatment commences on schedule and follow-up care.
